This week, the Blue Screen of Awesome crew takes a look at Dungeon Defenders. Which, as you might know already, is a third-person cooperative tower-defense game. On paper, it sounds like a perfect fit: four people, cooperation, and the slightest hint of kill-steal-trolling potential. It should be a perfect fit for our dysfunctional little group.
Wait, sorry, did I say ‘the Blue Screen of Awesome crew’? Because for this week, this game, it was just Jasper and Jarenth. Yes, we appreciate that the game is probably less entertaining (read: less troll-tastic) with just two people, but we had to make do.
So, Jasper and Jarenth (hereafter referred to as Team Awesome) jumped into Dungeon Defenders, reasoning that a game optimized for four players shouldn’t be a terrible hassle for two, right?
Jasper loves TD’s, but only when it revolves around towers. What’s up with the towers in this game?
Jarenth likes shooting things, but dislikes the Huntress. Will this terrible dilemma get resolved?
I had a similar reaction to yours, Jarenth. Fun (if repetitive) in multiplayer, boring and dreary in single player.
Basically like a TD-ified Borderlands.
Though it is worth mentioning that my friends like this game a lot more than I do. They’ve been playing it almost obsessively, often by themselves.
Somehow I don’t see that happening with us.
